Network connectivity on each floor should be offline for no more than 2 hours. This will affect access to shared network resources and your Cisco IP telephone.

However you will be able to access resources/files which are saved and or installed onto your local hard drive.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Network Upgrade Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th January

As part of the Network Upgrade Project the University will be upgrading the network access hardware switches throughout campus.

Milton Street, North Hanover Street, The Teaching Block, The Refectory and The Arc will be upgraded on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th January 2010. Please see schedule of works below.

Network connectivity in each building should be offline for no more than 2 hours. This will affect access to shared network resources and your Cisco IP telephone.

Please be aware that you will not be able to use or access common/shared network resources, email, the Internet or your telephone during the outage period.

Re: Lifts in North Hanover and The Arc
The lifts in the above buildings have emergency telephones installed in them. As the upgrade will directly affect the telephones this means the telephones in the lifts will be out of order for the duration of the outage.

The advice from Facilities Management is to put signs on the lifts stating that they are out of order for the duration of the outage. However, in the case of North Hanover Street where there is a possibility that the Nursery may be moving into the Basement (temporary measure due to recent flooding) , the advice is to enter using the stairs at the main entrance or via the basement back door opposite Bulk Stores.

Can you please pass on this information to colleagues on your floor who do not have access to the Internet.

There will be statutory High Voltage maintenance carried out on 29th December 2009 on the supply to all server rooms. The purpose of this e-mail is to inform all staff, that no I.T. systems will be available from 3:00pm on 28th December until 12:00pm on 30th December 2009. The only systems not affected by this shutdown are Blackboard and Student e-mail, however, these will not be accessible via the University campus network. All other systems will be down during this period. Internet access will also not be available as the powered access points to the Internet are located within these server rooms.
